Budding romance? Katie Waissel has described fellow X Factor contestant Storm Lee as her 'soulmate'
First there was Diana Vickers and Eoghan Quigg, and then rumours of more than just a friendship between Stacey Solomon and Olly Murs.
But this year, X Factor bosses are so determined there will be no romance between the contestants that they have employed a security guard to walk the halls of the house where the singers are living.
And the presence of such a burly guard is likely to put an end to rumours of a romance between two of this year's hopefuls - Katie Waissel and Storm Lee.
Desperate measures: X Factor bosses have employed a security guard for the house to ensure none of the contestants sneak into each other's rooms
Boyband FYD and Niccolo Festa, who were both thrown off the ITV show on Sunday night, have admitted they were stunned when they first caught sight of the man signed up to stop any of the contestants sneaking into each other's rooms.
FYD singer Matt Newton, 26, told Reveal magazine: You want to see the security guard that patrols the hallways. No-one is getting in and no-one is snkeaing into anyone else's rooms.'
And his 22-year-old bandmate Ryan-Lee Seager added: 'When you go to the toilet at night, you get a flashlight in your face. He's at the door practically counting the minutes.'
More than friends? Liam Payne has admitted his friendship with Cher Lloyd may have been misconstrued
But while they might not be able to enjoy a midnight chat in their temporary North London home, Katie, 24, and Storm are maintaining an incredibly close friendship and are frequently photographed together between rehearsals.
As well as Katie making sure Scottish rock star Storm was one of the first people she rang when she found out she had made it through to the live finals of X Factor, she has also described the 37-year-old singer as her 'soulmate'.
She told the official X Factor magazine X: 'We've always been soulmates. We met in a past life.
'He's also been in the music industry, so we've crossed paths a few times. We weren't like best friends before.'
Previous pairing: Diana Vickers and Eoghan Quigg are thought to have started a relationship during their time on the X Factor in 2008
Storm added to the magazine: 'I knew Katie a bit before the show, so it’s been really great having her in the house.
'You feel like you have someone on your side who really gets you.'
The full interview with the contestants is in Reveal magazine, out now
But thanks to the new presence of the security guard, and recent reports that Storm admitted in an interview three years ago that he is gay, there is not likely to be any further romance rumours about the pair.
Italian Niccolo, who was voted off the show following his performance of Lady Gaga's Just Dance, told Reveal before the weekend's programmes: 'There are people keeping an eye on us 24/7.
'Simon Cowell would slay us if he found out anything was going on.'
As well as speculation surrounding Katie and Storm's relationship, there have also been rumours about Liam Payne and Cher Lloyd.
However, One Direction singer Liam has played down the report, insisting to X magazine recently: 'We made friends downstairs in the hotel at Boot Camp and all I said was, "Do you wanna come back to the room?".
'I know that sounds bad, but I just meant in a totally innocent hanging out sense.'
