Until a few weeks ago, most of us had never heard of Irina Shayk.

But following her boyfriend Cristiano Ronaldo's shock announcement he had become a father and a staunch denial from her that she was the mystery mother of the child, the Russia beauty's star has rapidly ascended.

Enjoying her surging fame, the 24-year-old underwear model showed off her stunning figure at the New York premiere of Twelve on Wednesday night.

Showcasing her tanned, svelte figure in a jade green Herve Leger bandage dress and pale pink Christian Louboutin heels, it's easy to see what attracted Ronaldo to the model.

Meanwhile, her new boyfriend - who she's been dating since May - was on the opposite U.S. coastline, practicing with his Read Madrid teammates in Los Angeles.

Wearing a white kit, the Portuguese winger was put his paces by new manager Jose Mourinho.

The couple haven't been together since Ronaldo's New York trip in early July

While Shayk has remained in the Big Apple - where she lives, Ronaldo returned to Europe before coming back to the States.

Ronaldo shocked fans when he revealed he had become a father to a baby Cristiano Ronaldo Jnr on June 17 to an American mother.

He said he was in ''full custody' of the baby, which has been cared for by his mother Dolores Aveiro, 55, and sisters Katia, 33, and Elma, 35.

A Sunday newspaper report two weeks claimed Ronaldo fathered the child after a one night stand with an penniless American waitress last summer.

The woman was said to have contacted the footballer's agent after finding out she was pregnant and a DNA test conducted while Ronaldo was playing in the World Cup last month confirmed he was the father.

Ronaldo has refused to comment any further on the identity of the baby's mother.

Since announcing on July 3 that he had become a father the previous month, Ronaldo appears to have spent barely any time with his son.

In the days following his shock announcement, Ronaldo was shopping, partying and relaxing by his hotel pool with his girlfriend in New York.

But it looked like domestic issues were the last thing on his mind as he got in yet more tanning on a yacht in the Mediterranean with a group of male friends.

Following a few days back in Europe, Ronaldo joined his Real Madrid teammates in the Spanish city to join a team flight to Los Angeles for their summer training session.

After arriving in LA on Wednesday, it wasn't long before Ronaldo was kitted up and playing for Mourinho.
