Girls day out: Miley Cyrus and her mother Tish spent yesterday getting their nails done and going out for lunch

Thanksgiving is all about family. And despite the recent break up of her parents, Miley Cyrus still managed to make the holiday a family affair.

The Hannah Montana star, who turned 18 last week, spent yesterday on a girls day out with her mother Tish.

The ladies spent the morning at a nail salon for some pampering near their home in Studio City, California before heading to a Panera Bread restaurant for a bite to eat.

The pair wore matching navy leggings and flip flops for the outing and looked more like sisters than mother and daughter as the walked arm in arm back to their car.

Miley seemed a little down in the dumps and at one point her mother put a reassuring arm around her shoulders and gave her a hug.

Tish Cyrus and Miley's father Billy Ray Cyrus announced last month that they were ending their 18-year marriage.

Sisters? The mother-daughter duo looked more like friends

Billy Ray filed divorce papers in his home state of Tennessee citing irreconcilable differences and it was rumoured that Tish had been having an affair with musician Brett Michaels.

Earlier in the week Miley was spotted partying with rumoured new boyfriend, 18-year-old Canadian actor Avan Jogia.

The pair celebrated Miley's 18th birthday together at Hollywood club Trousdale where they were spotted kissing.

Lindsay Lohan enjoys a sober Thanksgiving... but she still can't quit her cigarette addiction

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Getting well: After spending Thanksgiving with her father in LA Lindsay Lohan returned to rehab in Palm Springs
She was joined by some friends from her sober living facility.

She's given up drinking and spent the last few months weaning herself off drugs.
But Lindsay Lohan still has a few vices.

The 24-year-old actress, who in rehab near Palm Springs, California, spent yesterday afternoon relaxing outside a Starbucks where she enjoyed a warm coffee and several cigarettes.

On Thanksgiving Day, Lindsay headed back to Los Angeles after being given a day-pass from the Betty Ford Centre where she has been receiving treatment for addiction to cocaine.

She spent time working out in a gym before heading to her apartment where she was joined by her father Michael and ex-girlfriend Samantha Ronson.

She also made her return to Twitter by re-posting a quote from the Tom Cruise film Vanilla Sky.

'Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around,' the star retweeted.

Quick fix: The actress indulged in some coffee and cigarettes whilst on an outing with friends from her sober living facility yesterday

Lindsay was admitted to the Betty Ford Centre in October after being ordered into rehab by Judge Elden Fox, narrowly escaping a return to jail.

The order was the result of a probation violation after she failed a court mandated drug test which could have landed her back in jail for 30 days.

She will remain in rehab until January 3.

It was also reported this week that Lindsay pulled out of her next film project Inferno, wanting to focus on her recovery.

Lohan has been set to play Linda Lovelace, a 1970's pornstar, in the biopic following the rise of the porn industry but has now been replaced by Couple's Retreat actress Malin Akerman.

Earnest Justin Bieber sings a message of hope for the needy in new video Pray

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Charity work: Justin Bieber sings a message of hope in his new video Pray, in which he is seen visiting sick children

He's not the first pop star to feel guilty about the vast injustices of this world.
But teen star Justin Bieber obviously hopes to make a difference with the video for his new single, Pray.

The earnest 16-year-old sings a message of hope as images of the homeless, sick and dispossessed flash by.

Doing his bit: Bieber sings 'I know there's good times beyond that pain' in Pray

Victims of hurricanes and beggars from Asia to America feature, as the youngster is seen performing acts of charity work.

He visits sick children in hospital and poses for pictures with the police force, in an effort to do good.

And while some might consider the video patronising, Bieber means well - giving a portion of the proceeds to a children's charity.

Friend of the forces: Bieber poses with police and army officers in one shot

The video brings back memories of Michael Jackson's hit Heal The World.
And that is not entirely a surprise.

'Wrote this song thinking of Michael Jackson's Man in the Mirror and we are donating a portion of the proceeds from every album sold to CHILDREN's MIRACLE NETWORK HOSPITALS,' Bieber wrote in a footnote.

'This song means alot to me and I Love this video.'

The video features images of orphaned and disadvantaged children worldwide

Unlike the strictly acoustic tracks on his new album, My World's Acoustic, Pray uses a string section, synthesizers and congas as Bieber offers an inspirational outlook on the future.

'I know there's sunshine beyond that rain, I know there's good times beyond that pain. Heaven, tell me I can make a change,' he sings.

Scooter Braun and Alfredo Flores directed the video, which Bieber released on his official Facebook page.

Well meaning: Bieber is giving a portion of the profits from his video to a children's charity

The star originally posted it on YouTube, only for it to be removed due to copyright reasons, wit the website claiming Universal had asked them to take it down.

Bieber, discovered on YouTube, tweeted: 'yo youtube...how u gonna block my own song?!?!?!

'we started this journey and now u r cheatin on me with this vevo chica...i see how it is...i will be over here with facebook.'

Strictly Come Dancing: Widdy takes to the waves as she thrills crowd with Titanic-themed routine

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Goc36SOdKIAendofvid

[starttext]

By NATALIE WAIN

Eat your heart out Kate: Anne Widdecombe turned out yet another hilarious performance as she attempted a Titanic-themed rhumba on last night's Strictly Come Dancing

'There are three types of people left in this competition - the good the bad and the Widdy', declared a confident Anne Widdecombe at start of last night's Strictly Come Dancing.

And after being likened to a yellow canary, all eyes were on this year's underdog to see how on earth she could top last week's toe-curling performance.

The outfit may have been toned down and there definitely no feathers, but Widdy thrilled the Striclty audience as she and dance partner Anton Du Beke channeled Kate Winslet and Leonado Dicaprio in the film Titanic with their rendition of a raunchy rhumba.

In what could loosely be described as her her most 'passionate' performance to date, the usually reserved Anne even locked Anton in a romantic embrace, planting her hands firmly on his chest, drawing cheers and laughter form the delighted audience.

Although she remained largely wooden and immobile throughout most of her routine, Anne threw caution to the wind for the dance finale as she and Anton collapsed in a heap on the floor, locked in another passionate embrace.

Look familiar? Anne Widdecombe would be the first to admit that she's no Kate

Winslet but she did her best to re-create the romantic scene from Titanic with dance partner Anton Du Beke

Emotionally charged? Well almost. Anne 'Widdy' Widdecombe evokes the romantic scene from Titanic where Kate Winslet and Leonado Dicaprio's characters share a tender moment

The judges were less than moved by their watery-themed efforts though.

A stony-faced Craig said her performance was passionless and said: 'that iceberg showed more emotion'.

It was a 'a testament to bad dancing', he added before awarding her a measly 1 point.

Passionate: Usually reserved Widdy got to grips with dance partner Anton as they tried to evoke the romance of Titanic

Len was equally uncomplimentary, declaring that he was 'shaken not stirred' by their routine.

'Eat your heart out Kate', said a more generous Alesha Dixon, before adding cheekily: 'I could really see genuine love between you'.

But the plucky politician still managed a respectable 14 points, beating her toe-curling performance from last week.

Embrace: Anne and Anton were largely derided by the judges for their performance, but the audience were delighted by their efforts and they still managed to beat last week's score with a respectable 14 points (for Widdy anyway)

Meanwhile, the other contestants scored somewhat better than Anne, who's languishing at the bottom of the leaderboard.

First up this week was EastEnders star Kara Tointon who danced an energetic version of the jive with her partner Artem Chigvinstsev, who guided Kara to a healthy score of 34, despite recovering from tonsillitis.

Head over heels: The judges were impressed by Kara Tointon and Artem Chigvinstsev jive which earned them 30 points

An enthusiastic Bruno told her that she lit up the room, and called her 'Kara Von Teese'.

Judge Craig praised their precise attention to detail but drew boos from the audience when declared that the routine was 'haphazard', before awarding them 7 points.

Last week's survivor Patsy Kensit and her dance partner Robin Windsor were next, performing a smoldering Argentine tango.

Patsy danced through a foot injury but the pair criticised by Bruno for their lack of 'spunk', whilst Craig told her they 'lacked flair and attacked'. 'But it did have intent and purpose and I think you that danced very well' he conceded. They scored 30 points.

Surviving: Patsy Kensit smoldered with dance partner Robin Windsor during their Argentine tango. They scored a healthy 30 points

Exhausted Eastenders star Scott Maslen got off to a rocky start with the American smooth making errors with his fancy footwork. He and dance partner Natalie Lowe still managed to score 31 points after recovering well.

'You're a class act', Len told him, 'but you didn't do yourself justice tonight'.

Smooth operator: Scott Maslen and partner Natalie Lowe recovered well from a rocky start and were awarded 31 points by the judges

Shake it: Jude Craig was unimpressed by Gavin Henson's bottom wiggle during his routine with partner Katya Virshilas and scored a disappointing 22 points

Next it was Gavin Henson's turn who danced the jive with his partner Katya Virshilas. It was a largely wooden performance which saw Gavin approach the judges to wiggle his bottom at them in his very tight tartan trousers at one stage during the routine.

Unimpressed, Craig told him: 'That bottom wiggle was completely unneccesary. It smacks of desperation and I think you're giving Anne Widdecombe a run for her money.'
The tanned rugby star only managed 22 points out of a possible 40.

Matt Baker and partner Aliona Vilani dazzled with an emotionally charged American smooth. The chemistry between the two was palpable and they pulled-off a number of flamboyant moves with apparent ease earning them a standing ovation from the delighted audience.

Alesha was booed when she said the pair that was disappointing.

Len agreed, telling him: 'Normally you're really good, tonight you were nearly good...there was just something missing tonight.'

But the best performance of the night was definitely saved till last when Pamela Stephenson defied her 60 years of age to give an acrobatic performance that wowed the judges and the crowd alike.

She performed a very cheeky charleston with partner James Jordan, incorporating cartwheels and even the splits into their energetic routine which won them universal praise from the judges.

Energetic: Pamela Stephenson won praise from the judges for her age-degying routine which delighted the audience. Pamela will celebrate her 61st birthday next week

Even Craig was excited by their performance, telling them: 'It was risky, perilous lifts, performed without any trepidation, I loved it.'

Alesha agreed: 'It was the best dance of the night' she said.

The pair were rewarded with incredible 38 points - the highest score of the night.
It remains to be seen if Widdy will be saved again. The results show will be shown later on Sunday night.

X Factor 2010: Cher Lloyd is back on top after bottom two disaster with show-stopping performances for rock week

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1ToGekAKn4endofvid

[starttext]
By CHRIS JOHNSON

She's back: Cher was on top with an all-singing, rapping and dancing performance of Avril Lavigne's Girlfriend before closing the show with the Aerosmith 1977 classic Walk This Way

She was left in tatters after coming in the bottom two last week.

But tonight Cher Lloyd was back with a vengeance as she wowed with two show-stopping performances for rock week.

The 17-year-old put her stamp on Avril Lavigne's Girlfriend track, before closing the show with the Aerosmith 1977 classic Walk This Way.

Stealing the show: After he pared down performance last week, Cher was back on form with backing dancers, her funky outfits and huge entourage of backing dancers

Speaking after her second performance, Simon told her: 'You have come back and had a fantastic night. I absolutely loved you Cher, well done.'

Her mentor Cheryl was also full of good things to say. 'We have never had anyone like you on the X Factor before,' she gushed, adding: 'But you are my cup of tea with two sugars in it.

'I believe in you, I believe in you as an artist and that you have a credible future, I really do.'

On top: The 17-year-old contestant even danced atop a car bonnet during her confident onstage turn after coming in the bottom two last week

One to watch out for: Simon Cowell was full of praise for the contestant saying she had come back with a vengeance

Cole then pleaded with the viewing public to vote for Cher in the competition with contestants facing a double eviction tomorrow night, which host Dermot O'Leary confirmed at the end of the show.

The seven remaining acts all performed two songs tonight, with even controversial Wagner being praised by the judges for his best week yet.

Mary received the least enthusiasm from the panel after Wagner, while Katie Waissel but on a brave face following more lurid allegations this week about her pornstar grandmother.

Wagner opened the show with the Radiohead track Creep.

Rock chick: Katie performed the Kings Of Leon hit Sex On Fire, which Simon praised her for following a week of lurid headlines about her prostitute grandmother

Emotional: Her second song was REM's Everybody Hurts, but Simon was not a fan of the arrangement saying the song was 'chopped up' and needed to be longer as he blamed her mentor Cheryl

His pared down performance - featuring no backing dancers - was met with a mixture of cheers and boos from the baying audience - and the judges.

Dannii congratulated him on his best effort so far, saying: 'I have to say that that is the best that you've sung in the whole competition and I think it's because you connected with the lyrics.'

But her comment angered mentor Louis Walsh, who appeared to think she was implying Wager was a creep.

Cheryl added: 'I completely agree with Dannii that that was actually your best performance at singing.'

Simon gave him a half compliment, telling the 54-year-old former PE teacher: 'For you, that was very good.'

Living the dream: Matt Cardle was surrounded by a bevy of scantily clad backing dancers for his rendition of I Love Rock and Roll

But when Louis told the contestant that Thom Yorke - the lead singer of Radiohead - would have 'absolutely loved' Wagner's version of the song, his comments were shot down by the jeering panel.

But for his second performance, the scantily clad girls were back as he did a comical performance of Addicted To Love by Robert Palmer.

Dannii was less impressed this time, although Simon said the plus side of the performance were the dancers.

Cheryl told him: 'I get the feeling that this is the week you enjoyed yourself the most. It seems like you enjoyed it Wagner.'

One Direction, Cowell's only remaining act, were second up, with a rendition of Bryan Adams's hit Summer Of '69 for their first performance.

Louis was a big fan and told them: 'I think you're the next big boy band.'

Soulful: Favourite Rebecca Ferguson took on U2's Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, but despite describing it as 'beautiful' Simon told her he could still feel her nerves

Dannii agreed, saying they had 'stepped things up,' while Cheryl told them: 'There's electricity in the room. You keep on growing and growing and getting better and better.'

Simon revealed that band member Harry Styles had picked the song, admitting he had been in New York for the week to pick up a 'very important award' at the International Emmys.

Louis berated Cowell for leaving his act, to which he was promptly told to 'shut up'.
For their second performance the group sang the Joe Cocker hit You Are So Beautiful.

Cut above: Rebecca was given a huge thumbs up from the judges as she returned with The Rolling Stones hit (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction

The powerful ballad went down well with the audience and the judges, although Louis said it was really in keeping with the rock theme of the week.

However Simon retorted: 'Joe Cocker was a rock singer so go and do your homework Louis.'

Dannii described it as 'stunning' while Cheryl added: 'I think you've got a really bright future ahead of you.'

Third to perform was Louis's act Mary Byrne, stretching her vocal chords with the U2 song All I Want Is You.

She was given warm rounds of praise by all the judges, with Cowell saying it was a good song choice for her.

For her second track she performed The Pretenders hit Brass in Pocket, which was not as well received, despite her effort at dancing.

Hitting the right note: Mary Byrne performed the U2 hit All I Want Is You and was given a warm round of praise from the panel

Dannii said it was 'heading towards karaoke' but Louis pleaded with viewers to vote her in to the semi-final because, 'I know how much this [competition] means to you'.

After her controversial staircase performance, Cher Lloyd returned with an all-singing, rapping and dancing rendition of Avril Lavigne's song Girlfriend, including a dance on the bonnet of a car.

Simon summed up the feelings of the panel, saying: 'Form the disaster of last week to undoubtedly your best performance so far. It didn't sound karaoke. You put your own stamp on it. By any standards you were right on the money.'

Chery agreed: 'You absolutely smashed it. We're back,' with Dannii enthusing: 'This was my favourite performance of yours. It was so complex and so on the beat. It made me think I want to go to your concerts.'

She later closed the show with Walk This Way.

Trying some smooth moves: Mary's second performance, The Pretenders hit Brass in Pocket, was not as well received with Dannii saying it was 'heading towards karaoke'

Rebecca Ferguson did a soulful take on U2's Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For.
'Bono would love that version,'Louis told her. 'We are looking for a recording artist and you have the most distinctive voice in the competition.

Dannii was also impressed with her vocals, but said she would like to see more performance rather than her just standing there.

Simon added: 'I can still see the nerves. Especially with the semi-finals coming up next week. It was a little bit stiff at times.

'But having said that, you have the most beautiful, distinctive voice. It was absolutely beautiful.'

Going in the right direction: One Direction did a rendition of the Bryan Adams song Summer Of '69, which Cowell revealed was a song choice of Harry Styles, far right

For her second performance Rebecca did a version of The Rolling Stones hit (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction.

Louis 'loved everything about it' while Dannii told her: 'You sang rock but you made it Aretha.'

Simon then told her: 'I don't know what's happened these last two weeks. From this flying start, things have gone a bit below standard, until this song.

'That was genuinely one of my favourite songs so far. It was incredible.'

Matt Cardle was surrounded by an army of sexy female backing dancers as he performed the Joan Jett & the Blackhearts hit I Love Rock and Roll.

Louis said he was the most 'consistnely good' performer in the contest, predicting: 'I think you will definitely be here until next week.

High praise: The boys returned with the Joe Cocker hit You Are So Beautiful, which received a huge round of applause from the audience

Simon then told him: 'Midway through that song, with you amid that lot [the scantily clad girls] I thought to myself that is living the dream.

'It was terrific and it was very very very good.'

To chants of 'Matt' from the audience, mentor Dannii chirped up: 'That's what I love to here. That makes me think, it's Saturday night, lets go and grab some girls and guys and have a party.'

For his second attempt at wooing the viewing public, Matt returned with his take on the classic Nights In White Satin by The Moody Blues, whilst strumming the guitar himself.

Louis told him: 'That was heart-wrenching, note perfect,' before Cheryl added: 'I love it when you sit there, play the guitar. That for me was my favourite performance of yours ever.'

'I thought it was absolutely genius,' Simon said,' before mentor Dannii praised him for his 'romantic' take on the song.

Best performance yet: Wagner's first performance was pared down with no back dancers as he sang the Radiohead track Creep

Row: The judges largely agreed it was a good effort, but Louis took exception with Dannii when she said Wagner 'connected well' with the song, apparently thinking she was implying he was a creep

Katie Waissel was the ultimate rock chick for her first track of the night, a commanding performance of Sex On Fire by Kings Of Leon.

After that performance I can see you are a rock chick. That was a very believable performance and I love your new image.

However, was not as bowled over: 'You look great, but the performance was a bit frantic for me, like you were trying too hard with it. I don't know what it was.'

However Simon was full of support for Katie, who has had a tough week with a series of headlines about her maternal grandmother Sheila Vogel, who has been exposed as a prostitute and pornstar.

He told her he loved her performance, saying: 'Only you Katie after a week you've had could come out and sing Sex On Fire. Genius.'

The 24-year-old contestant was also buoyed by supportive chants of Katie from the studio audience.

The girls are back: Wagner was not alone when he returned to the stage with Addicted To Love by Robert Palmer

'Wow that's never happened before,' she said smiling, before thanking everyone for their support and keeping her in the contest.

Katie got all emotional for her second track, REM's Everybody Hurts, and almost appeared tearful during parts of the song.

Afterwards Katie seemed even more vulnerable and tearful as Louis told her: 'I know you are hurting inside,' in reference to her family troubles this week.

But Simon told her that he was not a fan of the arrangement of the song, for which he placed the blame squarely on Cheryl's shoulders.

'That song does not work within that time period. It was chopped up. It needed to be longer.

'It was just crazy and I'm frustrated because I am a massive, massive fan of you and I just hope people can look beyond what was a terrible mistake by Cheryl.'

Cheryl barely acknowledged Cowell's remarks, and went on to praise her act for her 'believable performance'.
