Angelina Jolie plans an exotic Christmas for her six children
[starttext]
By DAILY MAIL REPORTER
Heading off: Zahara and Shiloh will be spending Christmas overseas, along with their four siblings
As soon as they seem settled in one place Angelina Jolie's rootless family seem to pack up and move on.
And while it might be Christmas, the actress has no plans to change that.
Angelina has revealed that she and partner Brad Pitt are taking their six children away for a far-flung Christmas adventure.
We're going to travel with the kids and go to a random part of the world,' she said.
'We're going to travel and have an adventure because that's what we love to do.'
But The Tourist star stopped short of saying exactly where her family plans to celebrate the festive season when she called into On Air with Ryan Seacrest on Friday morning.
Asked whether she's kept on top of her Christmas shopping, she said: 'I have, and I've got it all boxed and ready to go.
Rootless: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in Madrid last week; the couple are taking their six children to a mystery location for Christmas
I'm trying to get every stocking right and all the wrapping paper and everything.'
Jolie, 35, also revealed how she and legendary actor Johnny Depp had never met prior to filming new thriller The Tourist, which has received three Golden Globe nods despite being slammed by critics.
'We're both home bodies as it turns out, we actually live near to each other in France but have never run into each other,' she said.
'Brad and Johnny had worked together years ago, and he said "he's a nice guy and you'll like him" and I've always liked his films.
'So I kind of expected to like him and hoped he was as cool and as interesting as you imagine him to be and we met in his office and he was.
'He walked in and he was one of those very nice, very cool people that puts everyone at ease.
'We started talking about kids for about an hour and the school system.'

Babe on a bike: Paris Hilton perfects her pose as she launches her own motorcycle racing team in Madrid today
High heels and short skirts are Paris Hilton's usual outfit of choice.
But it seems she has undergone a transformation - into a biker chick.
Of course, this being Paris, her leathers are bright pink, and she posed with her bike rather than riding it.
The 29-year-old heiress wore the unusual outfit to launch yet another venture, her own motorcycle racing team.
Not your typical biker girl: Paris shows off her cleavage as she poses
The racy suit flaunted some ample cleavage which Paris seemed particularly pleased with, leaning forward to give the cameras a better view.
Pouting and straddling astride her very own customized two-wheeled vehicle, Paris outdid herself when it came to the over-the-top self-promotion.
The socialite flew into the Spanish city of Madrid yesterday to attend the special launch.
Hard at work: Paris put in some pouting overtime to promote the new racing team
Ecstatic: Paris was 'thrilled' to be astride her customized motorcycle

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER
Un-Happy Birthday: Katie Holmes looks sad and downcast as she arrives at her New York apartment on her 32nd birthday
It may have been her birthday, but Katie Holmes didn't look in the mood to celebrate.
In fact the 32 year-old appeared desperately unhappy as she arrived at her New York apartment today.
Dressed in a dour black coat, her hair loose and wavy, Katie looked down at the floor.
Her husband Tom Cruise accompanied her, carrying their four-year-old daughter Suri.
He didn't look much happier, setting his mouth in a grim expression as he went inside.
But while Katie may not have felt like celebrating, her big day hadn't been forgotten, with deliveries of flowers arriving for the birthday girl.
Hardly happy: Katie looks miserable on her birthday
The previous night it was a happier story as the family attended a seasonal performance of The Nutcracker, at the New York City Ballet.
Cruise had flown in from Vancouver, where he is filming Mission Impossible 4, to be with his family.
Suri, who wore pink Uggs and a violet dress, even got to meet the dancers after the show, with her mother helping make introductions.
Family day: Katie's husband Tom Cruise flew in for the occasion, seen carrying daughter Suri, four, inside
While Cruise is away in Vancouver, Katie has also been working hard.
The actress has been filming Jack And Jill in Los Angeles, although she and daughter Suri keep New York as their main home.

Kara Tointon is crowned winner of Strictly Come Dancing 2010 after wowing judges with her stunning performances
[starttext]
By SARAH BULL
Winner: Kara Tointon and dance partner Artem Chigvintsev were tonight voted the winners of Strictly Come Dancing 2010
After winning the trophy, Kara said: 'It's the most special thing that I have ever achieved and thank you to this man, who has been absolutely wonderful. I'm a bit embarrassed but I've made the most fantastic friends for life.
Artem added: 'Thank you Kara, you're amazing.'
Despite falling at the final hurdle, finalist Matt said he was thrilled with the result, saying: 'It's been graet. I have absolutely thoroughly enjoyed tonight, and Kara and Artem are worthy winners. If I was at home, I would be voting for Kara as well.'
And as well as winning the Strictly glitterball trophy, Kara also walked away with another prize - in the form of a date with Artem.
The pair have been rumoured to have been dating throughout the competition, but tonight furthered speculation after appearing more than a little touchy-feely on the programme.
Kara Tointon was voted the winner of Strictly Come Dancing 2010 tonight, despite battling a wrist injury.
Victory: Kara and Artem are congratulated by former contestants including Scott Maslen as they hold their trophy high
The 27-year-old former soap star and her partner Artem Chigvintsev wowed the judges with four incredible performances, including the American Smooth and their energetic show dance.
When she found out she and Artem had won, the former EastEnders star burst into tears before hugging Matt Baker and Aliona Vilani.
Celebration: Goldie holds Artem over his head as the Russian-born dancer celebrates his win
Stunning: Pamela Stephenson was the first to be voted off the show this evening
Speaking about being paired with Artem, Kara struggled to control her emotions and tears as she described her relationship with the Russian-born dancer.
And, in a VT ahead of their final performance, Kara said: 'I have made a friend for life and it has been a magical experience.'
While Artem added: 'When she's laughing, I find it adorable and irresistible.'
Kara's win was all the more impressive considering she had been battling a wrist injury following a back flip during her show dance.
The actress was seen backstage after the performance struggling not to cry while holding an ice pack to the wrist, telling the camera: 'I haven't done a back flip since I was about 11 and it really hurts now.'
Pamela Stephenson was the first contestant to be voted off the final tonight.
Ready to go: Kara wore a tight, low-cut jumpsuit as she and Artem performed to I Like The Way You Move
And Len, who also gave them a nine, said: 'What you've done, a little element of waltz, salsa and foxtrot - you've used all the skills you've learned and I thought it was charming. Well done.'
After the performance, Pamela said: 'It really has been the time of my life and I'm so appreciative to the women and men who have helped me get to where I am.'
And James cheekily added: 'Nobody puts Granny in the corner!'
Tonight's finale was opened by an energetic performance from the Strictly Come Dancing professionals, who danced to Eye Of The Tiger, with the girls sporting boards featuring the names of the three finalists.
Kara and Artem, Pamela and James, and Matt and Aliona were then welcomed to the dancefloor wearing boxing gowns and gloves ahead of the competition.
Head judge Len Goodman also kept the boxing analogy going as he introduced the show with a microphone hanging from the ceiling.
Presenter Tess Daly looked stunning in a full-length white gown with a sparkly silver asymmetric top, while Bruce Forsyth wore a black tuxedo with white waistcoat.
Gymnastic genius: Matt Baker used his gymnastic skills for the show dance
The first show of the evening saw the three finalists bring back their top-scoring dances, as well as unleashing their final show dance.
Up first were Matt and Aliona, who performed the Samba to Young Hearts Run Free , complete with a lot of hip movement and even some back flips from Matt, which earned him a series of cheers and applause from the audience.
Speaking about being in the final, Matt said: 'It's just such a special feeling to know that you're there - last weekend was such an emotional weekend.
'Initially I thought Strictly would be quite fluffy - a bit of glitter here and there, could it be that intense? But believe me, it can - it's just you, your partner and the floor.'
'Simply brilliant': Pamela and James received a standing ovation from the audience, which included Pamela's husband Billy Connolly
And as well as his natural dancing talent, it is Matt's chemistry with dance partner Aliona which has seen him get through to the final.
Describing their chemistry, Matt said: 'Aliona and I realised very quickly that we have a very similar outlook - she will dance what I'm feeling.'
Aliona added: 'I have actually been on a real, real journey - it's been a blast.'
Before taking to the dancefloor, Matt said: 'To be the last man standing is brilliant - to be the last one standing would be phenomenal.'
It was then time for the judges to pass their judgement on the performance.
All white on the night: Pamela and James stand with Tess as they await the judges' results
Len was first up, giving the couple a 9 and saying: 'We are expecting you to dance to the standard that has got you to this final, and that's what you did Matt. You came out, full on, and did so well - well done.'
Alesha Dixon, who awarded Matt and Aliona a 10, said: 'The last time we saw this dance was in Blackpool and you've done it again. I think it's the perfect way to open the show and I think it's the best samba of the series.'
Ever-amusing Bruno Tonioli, who also gave them a 10, said: 'There's nothing better than a hot Latin samba to cheer up everyone in a cold snap. You're samba was even better this time.'
And Craig Revel-Horwood, who gave them a 9, said: 'All good, I'm afraid. It was more confident than last time, I thought it was fantastic. That hip action is torrid, darling, it works very very well!'
Talking to Tess after the performance, Matt said: 'We wanted it to be a real celebration of everything we've done, and it feels brilliant to go out there and just dance - I'm so happy.'
Emotional: Kara struggled to control her tears as she spoke about her experience on Strictly before taking to the dancefloor to perform the Rumba
Kara and Artem were up next, performing the Rumba to an instrumental number.
Before taking to the dancefloor, Kara said she couldn't believe she had made it through to the final of Strictly.
She said: 'To have made it through to the final is one of the biggest achievements of my life. I don't think I'll ever forget when Artem slid towards to me on that first show. I had hoped to be with James or Anton, but I think he's forgiven me.
'It took me a few weeks to come out and let go. The first dance I did well with was the Paso Doble. In Blackpool the emotions were running high, I'd injured my partner, and then we did the best performance we've done in the whole show.'
On-screen chemistry: Matt and Aliona get on incredibly well, which is partly the reason they dance so well together
Eager to win: Matt and Aliona stand with Bruce Forsyth as they await the results from judges (left to right) Craig Revel Horwood, Len Goodman, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli
Making a big return: All the Strictly finalists returned for a last performance to the soundtrack of Paloma Faith
After their dance, Craig said: 'I would kill to be able to dance like that. I thought it was amazing. I thought you were adorable', and gave them his first 10.
Len, who caused controversy with a seven, said: 'What's great about number is that it's so lyrical and musical. Unfortunately, you're supposed to do a certain amount in hold. But it's still a great number and I think your dancing is brilliant.'
Alesha, who gave them a 10, said: 'I'm quite sad that that's the last dance we will see you guys do. I think you are the most exquisite dancer I have seen on Strictly and together you are first class.'
And Bruno, who also gave them a 10, said: 'Whatever happens, this was an inspired performance. Creatively it was superb.'
After the performance, Kara said: 'That dance has always been my favourite so we just wanted to do it again.

Strictly Come Dancing: Pamela Stephenson, 61, promises sexy finale
[starttext]
By PAUL REVOIR
Sexy: Pamela Stephenson and her professional partner James Jordan rehearse the Argentine tango ahead of tonight's grand final of Strictly Come Dancing
At 61, she is the oldest contestant ever to reach the final of Strictly Come Dancing.
But Pamela Stephenson says that won’t stop her turning up the raunch on tonight’s show.
She has even gone so far as to liken her dancing to ‘full-on sex’.
Miss Stephenson, who is married to comedian Billy Connolly, said she was looking forward to performing the most ‘gorgeous’ and ‘sensuous’ Argentine tango.
She is older than her two rivals combined – Matt Baker is 32 and Kara Tointon is 27 – but said she was a ‘flag waver’ for older women, claiming those of her sex and age are often given the ‘brush off’ and ‘discounted’.
And she said winning the series would make the point that women over 40 are still ‘full of vitality’.
On the floor: The psychologist ends up on the floor during rehearsals with Jordan
Don't look down: Stephenson keeps smiling as she is twirled around by Jordan
Miss Stephenson will only be able to perform the Argentine tango if she gets through to the final two of tonight’s competition.
She said of the Latin dance: ‘I always thought since I saw it that it was the most gorgeous sensuous dance and I am loving it. The Argentine Tango is full-on sex.’
Of taking part in the show, she added: ‘There is no reason that anybody my age shouldn’t be able to do it.
Who will it be? Pamela and James eye up the glitterball trophy with dancefloor rivals (L-R) Artem Chigvintsev, Kara Tointon, Matt Baker with Aliona Vilani
Chemistry: Kara and Artem look like they're in the zone as they practice
This is serious: Kara looks like she's struggling to keep a straight-face while Artem looks ready for business
'It is perfectly possible to be athletic and enjoying dancing at this age.’
Her comments come after last week’s X Factor final sparked thousands of complaints that routines by U.S. stars Christina Aguilera and Rihanna were unsuitable for a family audience.
A recent poll suggested Miss Tointon will win Strictly while bookmakers believe Mr Baker will triumph.

X Factor Matt and his 'bogus band of brothers'
[starttext]
By BARBARA DAVIES
Piling on the pathos: X Factor winner Matt Cardle's sob story about taking in bereaved boys has been dismissed as 'hokum'
As close followers of the X Factor will testify, a good voice is an advantage, but having a good tale to tell is essential.
And Matt Cardle’s story was a showstopper.
After an emotional rendition of the Roberta Flack hit The First Time (Ever I Saw Your Face), he told how his selfless mother Jennifer had cared for her best friend Sharon Floyd’s four sons after she was killed in a car crash.
'Brothers': Tom and Julian Floyd recorded a video message for an emotional Cardle (inset)
His story went down such a treat with the punters that hours before Sunday’s final, he told it all over again in a newspaper, declaring: ‘Overnight I gained four brothers.’
Sure enough, 27-year-old Cardle’s testimony helped him to victory and a £1million recording contract.
What a shame it’s almost entirely untrue.
At his home in prosperous Kingswood, Surrey, 62-year-old property developer David Floyd, father of Cardle’s so-called ‘brothers’ and the widower of Sharon, described the story pumped out by the X Factor publicity machine as ‘complete nonsense’.
His sons, he added, have never lived with Matt Cardle or his family, with whom, he adds, he and his wife were not even close friends.
‘It’s complete hokum,’ he said. ‘Being their father, it was me who raised my own sons after their mother died. It was a very difficult time. I also paid for all of them to go to boarding school and during the holidays they were with me.
As seen on TV: Cardle's parents also filmed an emotional video message. But their links to the Floyd family may have been wildly exaggerated
‘Sharon would have been astounded at the very idea of the Cardles adopting our children.'
They were nice enough people but the idea that Matt Cardle and my sons are somehow foster brothers is absolutely laughable. They were school friends. They occasionally went to their home for sleepovers.’
After his performance of The First Time, Cardle’s teary-eyed mentor Dannii Minogue gave him a standing ovation and declared in front of millions of live television viewers: ‘I wish everyone at home knew the story you told me about why you sang that. I know it’s really personal for your family.’
Cardle, who described himself as a painter and decorator, duly obliged, saying: ‘My mum took on those kids and they absolutely made our family bigger and better.’
In his subsequent newspaper interview, he added: ‘Words can’t really describe how we all felt after Sharon’s sad loss.

Christina Aguilera is in the pink with her Heidi hair at Berlin premiere of Burlesque... while Cher plays it casual
[starttext]
By DAILY MAIL REPORTER
Chic v casual: Christina Aguilera wore a striking fuchsia chiffon halterneck dress by Alberta Ferretti, while co-star Cher dressed down in trousers and a leather jacket at the Berlin premiere of Burlesque
Christina Aguilera and Cher have been posing in a variety of revealing, designer dresses as they promote their new movie Burlesque around the world.
But after wearing a lingerie-style dress at the London premiere earlier this week, it looked like Cher couldn't be bothered to make an effort at the Berlin screening tonight.
While Aguilera looked freezing in the snow and -3C in a flowing pink halterneck Alberta Ferretti dress from S/S 2011 Collection, her 64-year-old co-star turned up in a leather jacket, plain black trousers and a white scarf.
Baby's, it's kalt outside': Aguilera looked much happier with a coat on, but took it off to show off her glamorous pink gown
As the snow fell down outside the Cinestar Cinema in the German capital, pop star Aguilera, 29, threw off her warm black coat so she could show off her flowing pink dress for the paparazzi.
But the wind was so strong, at one point she ended up covering Cher's casual outfit with her billowing chiffon layers.
Summery dress aside, Aguilera was also showing off a new hairstyle - Heidi-style plaits across her head.
Heidi hi: Aguilera had pink and blonde braids across her hair
Cher's ensemble came as a surprise after the risque outfits she has been wearing at Burlesque premieres in London, Los Angeles and Madrid.
But after seeing the weather forecast for snow in Berlin, perhaps Cher decided she'd rather be warm than glamorous.
The pair were joined by co-stars Kristen Bell - who briefly removed her black coat to show off her glitzy blue dress underneath - and Cam Gigandet, who had also wrapped up for the cold weather.
After the film was mauled by critics, the movie's stars have been throwing themselves into the publicity campaign, attending junkets and premieres across Europe, Japan and North America.

All in the magic: Emma Watson in first ever moving magazine cover (wouldn't Hermione be pleased)
[starttext]
By CHRIS JOHNSON
Coming to life: Emma Watson features in the first 'living' magazine cover for the December 2010 U.S. Marie Claire (Press play to see the moving image)
In the magical world of Harry Potter, people move in photographs.
So it is perhaps appropriate that Emma Watson, who plays Hermione Granger in the hit movies, has made history by appearing in the first ever moving magazine cover.
Marie Claire has launched an app for the iPad, turning Watson's December covershoot for the American edition of the publication into a 'living' image.
The actress is seen making subtle, flirty movements in the video cover, with her hand resting gracefully on her shoulder.
There is also an accompanying behind-the-scenes video, showing the actress posing for the camera with her new elfin hairstyle.
For the app, Joanna Coles the Editor-In-Chief of American Marie Claire, also makes a video address to the readers in place of the typical editor's letter.
In the magazine interview, Watson opens up about fame and life after Harry Potter.
She is currently starring in the penultimate film of the series, The Deathly Hallows Par 1, having finished filming the final two movies earlier this year. Part 2 of the film is set for release next summer.
Magical: Emma arrives home from the U.S. at Heathrow Airport earlier this week and, right, looking glamorous at the Harry Potter premiere in London last month
Emma, who is studying at Brown University in American, told how she has avoided becoming a wild child thanks to the freedom her parents have afforded her as she grew up.
‘To be honest, I've always had far too much freedom. I had a job when I was 10. I started living on my own when I was 17 or 18,’ she said, explaining why she has stayed on the straight and narrow.
‘I've earned my own money; I've travelled the world. What would I rebel against? I've had so much freedom, sometimes it was hard.'
Speaking about her overnight fame, Emma admitted it was 'pretty scary' at times.
‘My parents wanted to protect me, but they had no idea how to,’ she said.

She's the jewel in Brad Pitt's crown: Angelina Jolie lights up the red carpet in embellished dress at The Tourist Madrid premiere
[starttext]
By SARAH BULL
Red carpet beauties: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt at the premiere of The Tourist in Madrid, Spain, last night
She's been working hard to promote her new movie The Tourist, pulling out all the stops for her red carpet outfits for the film's various European premieres.
But last night Angelina Jolie looked better than ever as she arrived at the Madrid premiere in Spain wearing a unusual dress with a jewelled top and billowing black skirt.
The 35-year-old actress teamed the look with a matching black shawl and the best accessory of all - her Hollywood heartthrob partner Brad Pitt on her arm.
Sparkles: Angelina's dress was very festive for the occasion
However, Brad, 46, couldn't match Angelina in terms of red carpet style, and showed up in a pair of less-than-flattering black leather trousers.
It's the second time in a week Brad has rolled out the leathers, which are arguably much too young for a man of his age.
Perhaps he was trying to take some fashion tips from Angelina's co-star Johnny Depp, who somehow always manages to pull off the quirky style, despite being a year older than Brad at 47.
But Angelina didn't seem to mind, smiling beatifically as she posed for photographers with her beau.
Stunning: Angelina held tight to Brad as they posed for photographers at the event
Brad and Angelina have been busy jetting around Europe over the past week, with Brad joining his partner on the red carpet at the various premieres.
However, Angelina admitted yesterday that she was enjoying her time in Spain more than some of her other European stops, because she likes drinking in the Spanish culture.
She said: 'I love Madrid and Barcelona mainly for art and great food.
'There are extraordinary museums and collections of art here.'
Questionable style: Brad rolled out his leather trousers for the second time in a week for the premiere, teaming them with a shiny shirt, black jacket and boots
Meanwhile, it has been claimed Brad and Angelina are planning to finally marry at the Adhyatm Vigyan Satsang Kendra healing centre, in Jodhpur, north-west India, on Valentine's Day (February 4th) next year.
According to the Hinudstani Times, the pair have been taking yoga lessons from the temple's leader Siddh Guru Ramlal Siyag, for years and believe he is the perfect person to conduct their Indian ceremony.
Also at the premiere last night was Angelina's co-star Depp, who had gone for a more scrubbed-up look for the premiere compared for the 'cowboy chic' style he had shown off at the film's photocall earlier in the day.
In sharp contrast, Angelina had stuck to her wardrobe staple of black as she arrived at the photocall, accessorising her black top and trousers with a fluffy white bolero.
Scrubs up well: Angelina's co-star Johnny Depp looked smart in a black suit, in contrast to his scruffy look at the film's photocall earlier in the day
The Tourist tells the story of Frank (Depp), an American tourist who travels to Italy in a bid to mend his broken heart. While there, he bumps into a woman called Elise (Jolie), who isn't quite as she seems.
Directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, the film, a remake of the 2005 French film Anthony Zimmer, has already been tipped for Oscars and has earned both Angelina and Depp Golden Globe nominations for Best Actor and Best Actress.
Talking about the film recently, Jolie said she enjoyed the role because she got the opportunity to explore a different fashion side to herself in 1950's, Grace Kelly-inspired chic outfits.
