No more cake: Kim Kardashian showed off her famous curves on the day she rejected a million-dollar diamond-encrusted cake, calling it 'ridiculous'
With four cakes already under her belt, Kim Kardashian has definitely celebrated turning 30.
But the reality star has turned down a fifth cake due to presented to her tonight - because it's worth $1million.
That was too much to stomach even for the reality star, who loves nothing more than a gift.
Taking to her blog earlier this week to explain, Kim wrote: 'I’m seeing some ridiculous stories today about a million-dollar birthday cake being made for my “birthday party.”
Nino Selimaj of Nino restaurant made the diamond-covered cake as a gift to Kardashian, to be unveiled at a press conference on Friday.
First of all, this is the first I’ve heard about this, and I would never allow anyone to spend that much money on a cake. Making a million dollar birthday cake is just ridiculous! I’d rather they give me a cupcake and donate the rest of the money to the homeless!'
The press conference has since been cancelled, and the cake is apparently going to be 'offered to customers,' according to a press release.
Time to shop: Kim and sister Kourtney headed out in SoHo before Kim's private family celebration tonight in Manhattan
Kim could be forgiven for being overwhelmed by all the cakes and parties this week.
The long stream of celebrations for Kim's 30th, which actually fell on Thursday, began last weekend in Las Vegas at Tao nightclub. Kim was joined by her family including mother Kris, brother Rob and sisters Khloe and Kourtney for the public event.
She was presented with an extravagant red and black tiered cake emblazoned with the venue's logo.
Two days later she was at Tao's New York branch, where she wore a white lace and beaded dress to blow out the candles on a another cake.
On Tuesday in Toronto she was presented with a pink and black three-tiered cake adorned with the logo of a cosmetics line she's promoting, Fusion Beauty.
Birthday girl again: Kim Kardashian out in New York last night during an entire week of celebrations for her 30th
To ring in her actual birthday Kim stayed at home on Wednesday with older sister Kourtney and three girlfriends, staying up until the clock struck midnight.
Then on Thursday night she enjoyed a private party for just a select group of friends, which included Kanye West, on a luxury yacht in New York harbour.
On the yacht she was given cupcakes along with a triple-teired white cake.
A surely-tired Kim pointed out: 'I’ve already had my birthday club celebrations at Tao in Vegas and NYC and there are NO other birthday parties this weekend.
'Tonight I’ll be having a private celebration with my friends and family, and then the birthday celebrations will be over.
'I’m sorry if you guys have been misled by anyone claiming they are hosting my official birthday party. That’s just not true.'
Sweet treat: Kim tucked into a tower of cupcakes, plus her fourth birthday cake of the week on a yacht in New York on Thursday
The $1million cake was to be presented to Kim at Glo nightclub in Westbury, New York tonight. Kim and her family still plan to attend the club as planned, just without the cake.
Kim and Kourtney are currently residing in New York as they film their spin off show Kim and Kourtney Take New York, following them as they open a New York branch of their retail store Dash.
Their original reality series Keeping Up with the Kardashians is currently airing its fifth season on E!

Katie Waissel the 'part-time receptionist' was spotted by Simon Cowell's record label partner six years ago

Katie Waissel has extensive links with executives at Sony BMG
She is one of the most controversial contestants on this year’s X Factor, surviving to the live shows ahead of audience favourite Gamu Nhengu, despite a barrage of criticism.
Now, in an extraordinary twist, it can be disclosed that Katie Waissel, described on the ITV1 show as a part-time receptionist, has extensive links with executives at Sony BMG, the record label that jointly owns the rights to the show with Simon Cowell.
Ms Waissel’s potential was first spotted by Sony staff in 2004. She was subsequently auditioned by a vice-president at the record label in New York and, as recently as two years ago, she received advice about her career from the company’s head of UK artists and repertoire.
Sony is a partner with Cowell in Syco, the company set up to manage and exploit the commercial potential of The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent. Cowell has described the company as ‘my home for 15 years’, while his talent shows reportedly provide 70 per cent of Sony UK’s annual profits.
While there is no evidence that Ms Waissel’s links to the record company have assisted her on the programme, critics claim the singer, from Pinner, North-West London, has been given too much leeway.
The 24-year-old failed to make it through her first audition on the show without mistakes, despite insisting she was going to be a ‘star’, an ‘icon’ and a ‘legend’.
And she should have been disqualified when it was revealed she had signed a record deal in America earlier this year under the name Lola Fontaine – but lawyers got her out of the deal so she could continue.
Katie performs on The X Factor last night. Her potential was first spotted by Sony staff in 2004
While Ms Waissel has never had a recording contract with Sony, her links to the company were disclosed in an online autobiography she wrote last year under her stage name Katie Vogel. In it, she reveals that her first encounter with the record label was in 2004 when she was spotted by David Massey, then a vice-president of Sony in New York, although he has since left the company.
Ms Waissel wrote: ‘I went to Dave Massey’s office a couple days later and spent the entire day there! We went through all my music, we jammed on the guitar, he introduced me to his team! And at the end of the day, he told me he wanted me to come back out and perform at a venue in NYC for him and Sony.’
She also reveals that she went on tour with 2005 X Factor runner-up Andy Abraham, thanks to her agent at the time at Creative Entertainment Group, whose clients include 2006 winner Leona Lewis.
Ms Waissel also wrote about the help she received from Jo Charrington, the head of A&R at Sony UK. She was introduced to Ms Charrington by her friend Simon Ward, a freelance producer who works on X Factor host Dermot O’Leary’s BBC Radio 2 show.
Ms Waissel wrote: ‘Joe (sic) Charrington from Sony BMG jumped back on the bandwagon and introduced me to a wonderfully talented writer Ian Barter. Joe and Simon together decided that a female version of Coldplay indie rock sound would be best for me.’
Ms Charrington said she did not recollect her dealings with Ms Waissel as described online, but declined to comment any further. But a source said: ‘Simon played the music to Jo. She listened to it and offered some advice. But in the end Jo didn’t think it worked.’
A Syco spokesman said: ‘Katie was not known at all to either Simon Cowell or anyone at Syco before she entered The X Factor. Syco has nothing to do with artists’ tours or their support acts. Those are run by independent agents.’

What are the odds? Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey have awkward run-in as they show up at same restaurant

Date night! Jessica Simpson and boyfriend Eric Johnson went to Red O restaurant last night, at the same time as Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minillo
Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey had an awkward encounter last night after they ended up going to the same Hollywood restaurant with their dates.
Jessica arrived at Red O restaurant with boyfriend Eric Johnson, while Nick was with girlfriend Vanessa Minillo.
The pair have rarely been seen anywhere near each other since their split in 2005.
Despite the awkwardness of the situation, the Dukes of Hazzard star seemed to enjoy herself as she and Eric sat across the room from her ex-husband.
And she stayed close to her NFL football player boyfriend as they walked out of the restaurant.
The curvy blonde kept it low key by wearing blue jeans and a black T-shirt under her camo-style jacket.
Meanwhile Vanessa looked much more dressed up in her black skirt and heels and black and white shirt.
Don't look now! Nick and Jessica have been divorced since 2005
Jessica and Nick were married in 2002 and split in 2005, when Jessica filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences.
Their marriage was caught on cameras for their reality MTV show Newlyweds.
And the actress was not happy when Nick jumped back into dating very soon after they split up.
She told Elle magazine in 2007, 'Oh, it hurt me. Two or three weeks later? Yeah, I'd say it kind of hurt me.'
Is that who I think it is? Jessica filed for divorce in 2005 citing 'irreconcilable differences'
But the 30-year-old certainly seems happy with new love Eric, who accompanied her on a trip to Italy in July for her 30th birthday.
'As far as Eric and I go, we're just best friends. He's my dude! I love him,' Jessica told People magazine.
'This [relationship] is just normal, thank God. He's very, very supportive. [I] couldn't ask for a better man in my life right now.'
Just keep walking! Nick leads girlfriend Vanessa Minillo into the restaurant
And while Jessica wouldn't admit to Eric being 'the one', she is clearly besotted with the 30-year-old.
She says: I never go to that because I already went there, so, I'm not gonna jinx my own self," she says. "He's the one for me right now!
'I'm very happy, I'm in a great place and if right now could last forever, I'd take it.'

X Factor 2010: Wagner avoids onstage meltdown... but his cheesy performance is panned by Cheryl and Simon

Scantily clad dancers: The Brazilian performed a mash up of Spice Up Your Life and Livin La Vida Loca
He was said to be at breaking point and furious with his song choice.
But 54-year-old Brazilian Wagner still managed to snake hip his way through a cheesy mash up of Spice Up Your Life and Livin La Vida Loca on X Factor tonight.
The outspoken retired PE teacher was all smiles after the performance - but left the majority of the judges somewhat lost for words.
Referring to the theme of the evening, which was guilty pleasures, Cheryl Cole groaned afterwards: There was a lot of guilty going on up there.
Turning to Simon, she added: 'I don't know if there was a lot of pleasure for me... I don't know what to say.'
Simon agreed, before ripping into Wagner's mentor Louis Walsh over the song choice.
Oh no! But it left the judges a little stumped, with Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell agreeing it was more guilty than pleasure in reference to the theme of the night
Give us a break: Danni was also rather unimpressed by the performance, but mentor Louis said it was fun an entertaining
'Do you know how crazy this is Louis you criticising me for song choice, and you give him the Spice Girls.'
Cowell then asked Wagner if he was happy working with Louis, following reports this week that he is furious about all the song choices that have been given to him.
However despite the contestant allegedly having been caught on tape in a rage during a phone call to a friend, Wagner remained professional on stage.
Style wars: Cheryl wore a nude floor-length gown, twisted at the navel to reveal her stomach while Dannii wore a Victoria Beckham draped back dress
Here we go: The judges emerge onto the stage for the third live show of the series
He said he was happy working with Louis, branding him 'wise'.
'He knows I come from a country that is full of dancing,' the hopeful said laughing in his post-performance talk with host Dermot O'Leary.
In what was the third week of the live shows, the contestants upped the bar with a series of strong performances.
On form: Cheryl Lloyd, who has been the subject of an internet hate campaign this week, made it on to stage and put in a confident performance
She's got swagger: The 17-year-old sang a mash up of Blackstreet track No Diggity and Shout by James Corden
Surprisingly, Simon backed Dannii up several times throughout the night, agreeing with her points.
Paije Richardson, 19, opened the show with a pared down rendition of the Rufus and Chaka Khan hit Ain't Nobody.
The cinema worker lifted the roof with his soulful dulcet tones, with his impressive range seeing him put in an all-conquering performance.
Top performance: Katie Waissel was given high praise for her take on King Of The Swingers from the Jungle Book
Most of the judges were complimentary, with mentor Dannii telling him 'you have arrived, the vocals were perfect'.
Cheryl agreed saying: 'It's the most comfortable you've looked.'
Louis was also gushing, and praised him for his bravery for getting on stage despite the death of his grandmother this week.
'You just get better and better as the song goes on. I know you've had a very difficult personal week too.'
Sexy: Rebecca Ferguson turned into a version of Jessica Rabbit as she performed the blues hit Nora Lee King's classic Why Don’t You Do Right
But Simon wasn't impressed with his garish pink blazer jacket.
'I didn't like what you were wearing. The performance was ok and I say that because now you've got to start behaving and acting like a star.'
But he added that the 'end vocal was outstanding,' before advising him: 'You've got to start believing you can win this competition.'
John Adeleye, 29, was next up and performed the 1982 track Zoom by Fat Larry's Band.
In harmony: Belle Amie performed I'll Stand By You, a track by the pretenders which has also been covered by Cheryl's bnad Girls Aloud
The care worker split the judges, with Dannii finding the smooching and backing dancers distracting - and Cheryl agreed.
But she told him he delivered his vocals 'really really well'.
Simon added: 'I was trying to concentrate, but [the dancers] were getting it on in the corner. It reminded me of watching the news once and seeing the newsreader talking as two dogs were mating in the background.'
Mentor Louis said he wanted people to vote for John based on his vocal talents, but admitted: 'The dancers were a bit of a distraction I agree.'
It was a good night for Rebecca Ferguson, with Simon telling her it was the night she turned into a star.
Rock chick: Treyc Cohen turned rock chick with Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin
Wearing a Jessica Rabbit style full length red gown, complete with red wig, the 24-year-old single mother crooned to Nora Lee King's classic Why Don’t You Do Right.
'This is the night you turned into a star. I can't fault any part of that. This is so exciting,' Simon told her.
Dannii told her she loved the performance, but said that the look she was carrying off aged her.
Cher Lloyd, 17, who has been at the centre of an internet hate campaign this week, sang as mash up of the Blackstreet track No Diggity and Shout by James Corden.
It saw her put on a Cheryl Cole style performance with a throng of backing dancers as she took to the stage with curly hair and a tracksuit top and pants.
Louis loved her attitude, while Dannii, who was not so in favour of her performance last week, was also full of praise.
Back in the race: Aiden Grimshaw performed Diamonds Are Forever - Cheryl said it was a 'bit intense' but Simon and mentor Dannii disagreed
Simon said it was like watching a true professional.
'I can only tell you Cher it didn't feel like someone taking part in a competition it felt like someone who had had five hit records and was putting in a performance. You are so confident.'
A delighted Cheryl added: 'I want to thank you for being a strong little thing, for getting out there. You are what a popstar should be.'
Cher responded, saying: 'That is the sort of artist I want to be. That was me right there.'
Matt Cardle, 27, had the ladies swooning with an acoustic version of Hit Me Baby One More Time by Britney Spears.
The former painter and decorator brought the house down, receiving a huge applause afterwards.
From the heart: Mary Byrne performed I (Who Have Nothing) by Shirley Bassey, but Simon and Dannii called for her to sing something more modern next time
Cheryl told him: 'That is such an iconic song, but I felt like I was sat in an unplugged session listening to an acoustic artist.'
Simon was equally impressed and told him it was 'incredible'.
His proud mentor Dannii was also delighted her act had done so well while host Dermot O'Leary thank him for not 'doing a Darius'.
Boyband One Direction performed Nobody Knows by Pink.
Dannii praised the performance, but questioned how the track was a 'guilty pleasure' - the theme of the evening's songs.
The other judges looked at her blankly, before Cheryl chipped in: 'You know guys let me put this out there, you are my guilty pleasure.'
Heartthrobs: Boyband One Direction performed Pink's hit Nobody Knows
Liam Payne, left, and Harry Styles, who the band admitted had received the most attention on their outing to London's TopShop this week
Treyc Cohen turned rock chick with Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin.
She was joined on stage by an army of backing dancers dressed in red as she performed behind a ring of fire in a black dress with feather shoulder pads.
Despite feeling ill, the 26-year-old call centre worker put in a fantastic performance which impressed all of the judges.
Dannii branded her vocals 'phenomenal' while Cheryl praised her work ethic.
'You've been ill all week but I've not heard one moan or groan out of you,' she told her.
Simon told her she was a 'kitten who turned into a tiger in one week' but did say she missed some of the big notes.
Mary Byrne performed I (Who Have Nothing) by Shirley Bassey.
Unplugged: Matt Cardle sang an acoustic version of Britney Spears's song Hit Me Baby One More Time for which he received huge praise
But while the judges agreed it was a top class effort from the 50-year-old Dublin supermarket worker, Dannii and Simon called for her to sing something a little more modern.
Dannii told her people old and young love her and it would be good to see her take on something like Coldplay.
Simon agreed with her, telling Mary's mentor Louis: 'You can't do the same song every week. You've got to use a little bit of imagination.'
Mary responded to the comments, saying: 'This is the style of singing I've always done. But I appreciate what you're saying.'
Aiden Grimshaw, 18, performed another Bassey hit, Diamonds Are Forever, which has also been covered by Arctic Monkeys.
Cheryl told him the performance was a bit intense, although Simon and mentor Dannii disagreed.
Thumbs up: John Adeleye donned a silver jacket and black trousers as he crooned to Zoom by Fat Larry's Band
Simon told him he was firmly back in the race after a blip last week, while Louis was also in full favour of the performance.
After coming in the bottom three last week, girlband Belle Amie were allowed to chose their own track this week, opting for I’ll Stand By You by The Pretenders, a track familiar with Cheryl as Girls Aloud have also covered the track.
However, the reception from the judges was largely luke warm.
Louis had a go at Simon for not giving the girls more support.
Distracting: But some of the judges found the backing dancers' smooching moves a little too much to stomach
Cut it out: Cheryl and Simon both agreed that the dance move got in the way of John's performance
He told them: 'You've got a problem because you are on your own in this competition.
'He [Simon] is putting all his energy into his boyband One Direction.'
Simon responded by calling Louis 'nasty and spiteful' before adding: '[The song] showed you were a group, showed you can make decisions... I thought you did great.'
Dannii told them their style had improved, adding: 'The song choice was not surprising, but it was good.'
Nice voice, shame about the jacket: Paije Richardson was largely praised for his performance, but Simon didn't like the cinema worker's outfit
However she said it was a tough night because the standard was so high and that's where the problem is
Cheryl, naturally, loved the song choice: 'I have to say girls you've got great taste in music. It's very sentimental to me I just wanted to get up there and sing it with you,' she said.
Katie Waissel closed the show with King Of The Swingers from the jungle book.
She was given high praise by all judges. Cheryl said it was a breath of fresh air, while Simon added: 'It shouldn't have worked, but it did. I loved it.'

Chelsea 2 Wolves 0: Blues stride clear, but Carlo Ancelotti's playing it cool
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxyMADZYQ3Qendofvid
[starttext]
By ROB DRAPER
Sealing the deal: Sub Salomon Kalou clinched victory over Wolves with a late effort
While Chelsea’s immediate rivals in Manchester have allowed themselves to be distracted by the Wayne Rooney saga, it may have escaped their notice that the Blues are quietly accumulating a significant lead in the title race.
Yesterday, though not without its troublesome moments, was eventually an entirely routine victory, even if its outcome remained in doubt until Salomon Kalou’s late strike finally put the game beyond Wolves.
While the result would have been expected, for now Chelsea’s defence of their Premier League title continues unabated. With a relatively benign run of fixtures to come for the Londoners — Liverpool away from home having lost its potency of late — Manchester United may find themselves some way adrift by the time they visit Stamford Bridge just before Christmas.
Carlo Ancelotti, however, is buying none of this at present. ‘The difficult moment will arrive,’ the Chelsea manager cautioned yesterday. ‘When it does, we have to be ready. We have a good advantage at the moment but Manchester City can be within two points if they win, so it’s too early to say we have enough points. We’ve started the season well, that is all.’
And, as Ancelotti went on to point out, there were times when this game threatened to diverge from the script. ‘It was a tough game and we didn’t play so well,’ he said.
Indeed, Wolves were something of a revelation yesterday. It is true that at times they fulfilled their villainous role as the league’s dirtiest team, notably when Richard Stearman produced an agricultural challenge on Didier Drogba which had neither the slightest intention nor hope of playing the ball. Yet for long periods, they also passed the ball crisply and caused Chelsea some discontent.
For manager Mick McCarthy, pitted against the team he believes will win the league, that remained a source of both pride and frustration.
‘I think Chelsea are the best team, no question,’ he said. ‘They have loads of ability, they are tough
physically and clever with the runs they make. They look one way and pass the other. They are a fantastic team ... and we should have scored against them!’
Goal machine: Florent Malouda got his seventh league goal of the season
Yes, they should have. Throughout they produced chances, from the 20th minute, when Dave Edwards headed a Kevin Foley cross goalwards only for Petr Cech to save smartly, to the 71st, when Chelsea’s goalkeeper was again alert, plucking Kevin Doyle’s glancing header from a David Jones corner.
‘It was a good performance but we probably needed a bit more devilment in front of goal,’ said McCarthy.
They did have a serial irritant in Stephen Hunt, still a bête noire to Chelsea fans for his challenge on Cech while at Reading four years ago. He came on at half-time to predictable rhyming obscenities.
‘He relishes that,’ said McCarthy. ‘I was glad anyway, because if they were going to give anyone abuse it was going to be him and not me.’
Punch drunk: Petr Cech clears his lines as David Edwards lurks
He was a thorn in his opponents’ side and had almost scored within three minutes, stooping low with a diving header that Michael Essien was forced to clear off the line.
Doyle then forced a smart save on 52 minutes before the Czech keeper collected well from a Nenad Milijas effort on 63 minutes.
Nevertheless, this was ultimately a day of general good news for Chelsea. Not only did they extend that lead at the top of the table to five points but Jose Bosingwa, who sustained a knee ligament injury against Aston Villa almost a year previous to the day, made his first start since then.
Incredibly, he looked as fresh and inventive as ever, his attacking intent complementing Ashley Cole on the opposite flank. And within 13 minutes, he had all but completed a heroic comeback when a delightful exchange of passes with Drogba saw him unleash a tremendous shot from range, which Marcus Hahnemann did well to tip wide.
Pleasing return: Jose Bosingwa made an impact after a year on the sidelines
‘He played really well,’ said Ancelotti. ‘I think he was one of our best players. To be out that long is very difficult and he was very excited before the game. He’s an important player for us.’
With Frank Lampard scheduled to resume training on Monday and possibly in contention to play at Blackburn next Saturday, Chelsea are strengthening by the week.
And good though Wolves were yesterday, they could not live with Chelsea in their finest moments, the opening goal ample demonstration of the champions’ attacking prowess.
Nicolas Anelka darted down the right, played a lovely inside ball for Yury Zhirkov, who, in turn, pulled it back first time for Florent Malouda.
From eight yards out, the Frenchman struck firmly home.
The decider was just as slick and impressive. Substitute Kalou found Drogba, who then fed Essien. He slipped the ball back to Kalou, who had continued his run and finished the move with a firm strike to seal the points.

Tottenham Hotspur 1 Everton 1: Rafael van der Vaart cancels out Leighton Baines' free-kick

By SPORTSMAIL REPORTER
Level pegging: Rafael van der Vaart makes things all-square from close range
Rafael van der Vaart returned to rescue Tottenham from defeat once again but this time they were unable to complete the comeback as Everton held on for a point at White Hart Lane.
Suspended for Wednesday night's Champions League defeat at Inter Milan, Van der Vaart scored his fifth goal in as many games to send Spurs third in the Barclays Premier League.
The Holland midfielder's effort cancelled out Leighton Baines' brilliant free-kick - his first goal for almost 14 months - while Peter Crouch wasted more than one chance to seal what would have been Tottenham's fourth comeback win in five league matches.
Today's game kicked off barely 48 hours after Spurs got back from Milan and, once again, the words 'European hangover' lingered in the air in north London.
But with third place - and even second - up for grabs for 24 hours at least, there was no shortage of motivation for Redknapp's men.
It looked as if they were really going to have to work for it, though, as Everton, without Mikel Arteta, chased and harried all over the pitch.
Spurs midfielder Wilson Palacios, starting his first league game for six weeks, was rightly booked for a foul on Ayegbeni Yakubu as the visitors looked to hit their opponents on the break.
But Tim Cahill's tame long-ranger and Luka Modric's low strike from the edge of the box - well saved by Tim Howard - were the only efforts on goal until Baines struck in the 17th minute.
The fit-again Younes Kaboul fouled Yakubu on the edge of the box and Baines stepped up to curl a delightful free-kick into the top corner.
But Tottenham were level inside three minutes after Howard flapped at Alan Hutton's cross and Crouch nodded the ball back across goal for who else but Van der Vaart to blast over the line.
Screamer: Leighton Baines' precise free-kick sailed into the top corner
Modric, captain for the day in the absence of Ledley King and Tom Huddlestone, fired wide from 20 yards and Crouch saw a penalty appeal turned down after getting sandwiched between Phil Jagielka and Phil Neville.
Baines curled over another free-kick from a near-identical position from where he had scored and Crouch sent a weak header straight at Howard from Hutton's cross in first-half stoppage-time.
Spurs withdrew Palacios for Sandro during the interval, with Crouch's scuffed shot the first effort of the second half.
Substitute Sandro almost laid on a 52nd-minute goal for man-of-the-moment Gareth Bale, whose flicked header was cleared behind by Jagielka despite being just off target.
That was moments after Seamus Coleman became the first Everton player booked for bringing down Aaron Lennon as Tottenham broke.
Doubling up: Phil Neville and Seamus Coleman attempt to thwart Gareth Bale
Crouch almost deflected a John Heitinga free-kick into his own net before the visitors were forced to bring off a hobbling Yakubu for Louis Saha just past the hour mark.
The fit-again Steven Pienaar sliced high a wide from 25 yards but it was not happening for either side and Spurs decided to introduce Roman Pavlyuchenko for Lennon in the 69th minute.
Bale switched to the right and he and Sandro immediately set up Crouch for a weak effort at Howard, with Cahill just off target with a snapshot at the other end.
Van der Vaart was booked after furiously protesting the award of a goal-kick when he looked to have won a corner.
Flying Dutchamn: Rafael van der Vaart feels the force of Phil Jagielka's challenge
Pavlyuchenko saw his finish blocked behind by Sylvain Distin following a Spurs break and Sando was yellow carded for felling Saha as he tried to do the same.
Tony Hibbert replaced Heitinga for the final 12 minutes, shortly before Coleman was withdrawn for Jermaine Beckford.
With two minutes remaining, Van der Vaart looked to have a chance to snatch all three points but his shot on the turn was blocked by Distin and Hibbert.

With the amazing view of the Sphinx and the Pyramids of Giza in the background, Kylie Minogue thrilled fans at an open air concert held in front of the spectacular site in Egypt.
The pop star was in Cairo to perform at the 10th anniversary of Enigma magazine.
She took to the stage in a gorgeous sheer gown by Emilio Pucci that was whipped up in the breeze to reveal the diminutive singer's legs, and a staggering pair of spiked Christian Louboutin heels.
Party-goers, dressed to the nines for the 'Hollywood Red Carpet Glamour' dress code, paid around £330 to attend the charity event, with profits going to the We Owe it to Egypt foundation and the Abou el-Reesh paediatric hospital.
The 42-year-old spent some time sight-seeing earlier in the day, gushing to her Twitter followers 'This mystical place is insane!!'
VIPs: The cheering crowd paid £330 for tickets to see Minogue perform, with profits going to charity
She was given a tour of the ancient city by Vice Minister of Culture in Egypt, Dr Zahi Hawass.
Kylie uploaded a picture of the pair standing in front of the Sphinx, and despite her years of globe trotting, she still appeared in awe of the historical site.
She wrote: 'With the amazing Dr Zahi Hawass in front of the Sphinx...yes THE Sphinx!!! To see these sights is so incredible, moving and powerful.'
Later she excitedly tweeted, 'Rehearsing for our show in Cairo..... in front of ...the .....PYRAMIDS!!!!!'
Tourist: Kylie took in the sights with the Vice Minister of Culture in Egypt as her guide earlier int he day
The day before her Cairo concert, Kylie sent her love to sister Dannii who turned 39: 'Peeps...wish Happy Birthday to Mummy @DanniiMinogue!!!' she tweeted.
The Australian superstar recently spoke out about the feud between her younger sister Dannii and former X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne.
After Dannii wrote about their strained relationship in her autobiography, Sharon's daughter Kelly launched a rant on Twitter about the Australian in response.
Kylie said: 'I feel protective. Dannii is my little sister and I always feel the urge to get involved. But I’m reluctant to get dragged into this fresh hoo-ha
'It’s such a small part of our lives now. I think it’s basically become a pantomime. But it was very real at the time Sharon and Dannii were both on the show.
'We had the Osbournes and the Minogues kicking off. But I know Dannii wishes it would go away. Can we just get past this now? Come on! It’s a bit old and boring.'

Wacky woman: Gaga debuts another bizarre outfit as she leaves her hotel in London today
Is the stress of fame making Lady Gaga age prematurely? Or is she doing Halloween early this year?
Spotted leaving her London hotel this morning, Gaga, 24, shocked onlookers by stepping out in a Cruella-De-Vil lookalike outfit.
With straggly hair dyed alternating shades of grey and white, a floor-length tiered nightgown-style dress and bizarre goggle sunglasses with heavy metal rims, the singer was more grandma than Gaga.
Flanked by security guards as she made her way through the throng of fans outside the hotel, Gaga at one point looked confused as she squinted up through her dark glasses.
But her smile was soon back as she warmly hugged a waiting female fan and posed for pictures with some of the crowd.
Beseiged by people holding cameras and phones in her face, the eccentric performer seemed genuinely happy to see her British fans.
Dark outside: Gaga squints in her heavy goggle-style sunglasses
Granny love: A grey-haired Gaga hugs a patiently-waiting fan outside her hotel today in London
Her new hair colour was a quick change following her outing to the Westbourne pub in Notting Hill last night.
The Poker Face singer was sporting a blonde beehive last night along with a flamingo-pink dress made out of synthetic hair, with a giant bustle.
Bringing the pub to a standstill with her entrance and followed by paparazzi, Gaga later treated the chilly photographers waiting outside to milk and cookies.
Cartoonish: Gaga looked like 101 Dalmations character Cruella-de-Vil
Her brief vacation was a welcome break for busy Gaga, who has been writing a new album as well as embarking on the latest leg of her Monster Ball tour, which started last year and ended in 2011.
She said: 'People say "why don’t you wait till the tour is over to finish your album?", and I say "firstly cos my fans aren’t going to wait that long."
'Secondly because I get so much inspiration every night when I’m here with you. Then after the show I drink a bottle of Jameson (whiskey) and I get s*** wasted.'
'I drink a lot and I tell the truth about myself!'
Gaga's trip to London comes after she enjoyed a romantic holiday on the Greek island of Crete with boyfriend Luc Carl and it seems their relationship is going from strength to strength.
A source told Britain’s Grazia magazine, 'They exchanged rings in a spiritual service and drank shots before sitting down to a lovely private dinner at a tiny restaurant.
'They wanted to show that they are committed to each other and want to spend the rest of their lives together.
And according to the source, Gaga is determined to have a real family-themed wedding later on with all her friends and family.
'They are still planning to marry, but that will come later when she has the time to plan a big Italian-style wedding.'
Does my bum look big in this? Lady Gaga leaves the Westbourne pub in Notting Hill last night wearing a flamingo dress with large bustle
One fan who would love to work with the Paparazzi star is Will Smith's daughter Willow, who just released her debut single Whip My Hair.
She says: '[Somebody] I would really want to work with on a song would be Lady Gaga. She is amazing! She’s just so amazing, she’s a free person. She’s a free girl, baby.'
Gaga’s duet with Elton John, Hello Hello, is set to appear in the new movie Gnomeo & Juliet.
The song will be played in the background when James McAvoy and Emily Blunt’s animated characters meet for the first time.
