Not so stylish: Blake Lively teamed an oversized man's shirt with a sparkly skirt and a bizarrely tied belt as she arrived at the Realm Boutique opening in New York


Since leaping to fame three years ago in U.S show Gossip Girl, Blake Lively has become a regular on the celebrity best dressed lists.

But as she attended the launch of a new boutique in New York last night, it looked like her style mantle may be slipping.

The 23-year-old blonde was wearing a bizarre ensemble of an oversized men's shirt which was so long it actually stuck out from the bottom of her sparkly skirt.

Her quirky casual-meets-glamour outfit was completed with a tan belt - which appeared several sizes too large for her and was tied in an unusual knot at the top of her skirt.

Lively's fashion faux pas came as she attended the launch of the new Realm Boutique in the SoHo district of Manhattan.

The new store, located in Greene Street, includes clothing by a host of new and established designers, including Thierry Mugler, Christopher Whyte and Jean Claude Jitrios.

Although Lively has managed to secure praise for her style over the past few years without the help of a stylist, last night's outfit suggests she can't always get it right.

When asked for her fashion secret recently, Lively admitted it was exposure to the fashion shows which helped inspire her style.

She said: 'I feel like the more you do anything the better you get at it. I've lived in New York for three years, and I go to more and more shows. My trip to Paris, the designers I get to meet, and I just styled myself the whole time.'

Lively is currently filming the fourth season of Gossip Girl after completing her role in action film The Green Lantern earlier this year.

Despite her recent split from Gossip Girl co-star Penn Badgley after three years together, Lively was spotted presenting him with a birthday cake in between takes on location this week.

Lively has already been romantically linked to Leonardo DiCaprio after they spotted dining at the same New York restaurant.

But fellow diners inside the The Lion eaterie said the pair were with a large group of people, including director Baz Luhrmann, who may be directing them in the new adaptation of The Great Gatsby.

DiCaprio has been tipped to play mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby, while Lively has been touted as one the many possible female actresses up for the role of Gatsby's former lover Daisy.
