AKB48 and their producer, Akimoto Yasushi, have received the “Trend People Award (Wadai no Jinbutsu sho)“, which is one of the awards from “The 23rd Shogakukan DIME Trend Award“, and four members from AKB48 (Ohshima Yuko, Takahashi Minami, Kojima Haruna and Miyazawa Sae), along with Akimoto, made an appearance at the awarding ceremony on November 9th.
Akimoto talked about the AKB48 members, “5 years ago, the members were terrible, with no manners, as if they were taken from a jungle, but because of the support from everybody, now they have become excellent.”
Akimoto also confessed the reason he holds “AKB48 General Elections”, as he said, “Since there is a limit on how many members can be on the cover of a CD, I used to pick the members by myself, however, I received so many complaints from fans. Therefore, I decided to hold a festival where the fans can vote for their favorite members.”
