Katy Perry was very heavily made up as she attended the launch of her new perfume, Purr, today in Mexico City
Katy Perry’s fantasy pin-up girl good looks appear to be held together with enough make-up to make a pageant queen from Texas blush.
The 26-year-old was in Mexico City today launching her first perfume ‘Purr by Katy Perry.’ She arrived in the Mexican capital Saturday tweeting ‘Hola Mexxxico City! I can’t wait to see your gorgeous faces and launch Purr!’
However as the California Gurl took centre stage at a Press conference, the singer revealed an extremely heavily made-up look having apparently plastered make-up on in earnest in a bid to cover any blemishes.
What a difference: Katy seen, left, make-up free in a Twitter picture posted by husband Russell Brand in December and, right, appearing rather orange with a thick layer of foundation covering her blemishes
And in a certain light, the new Mrs Brand's thick mask-like covering was all too clear to see.
While the quantity of make-up is still questionable the uneven texture of Katie’s face nods to less than perfect skin and an attempt to cover the imperfections with heavy concealer and foundation.
The newlywed’s husband, Russell Brand, 35, ended 2010 by posting a picture of his new bride on his Twitter without any make-up on.
Smell of success: The singer poses with a bottle of Purr by Katy Perry, the first fragrance she's launched
Perhaps the comedian was playing a joke on his unsuspecting wife? Regardless, Katie was not amused and the photo was taken down almost as quickly as it went up.
Kate has talked candidly about her insecurities where her looks are involved in the past opening up in the August 2010 issue of Seventeen Magazine where she revealed: ‘I don’t really feel pretty ever. Without make-up I feel ugly.
'And so I would have to sleep with make-up on or feel ugly or gross.’
She is, however, learning to look past her own insecurities with the help of Russell. Kate says of Russell: ‘I think he taught me a lot about inner beauty and confidence in myself.
Not ready for her close up: The star donned an incredibly short, asymmetrical purple dress which showed off her enviably long legs
Entertainer: Perry performed on a purple-carpeted stage next to a pool before teams of photographers
Katie’s lyrics in her hit song, Teenage Dream, are obviously in tribute to her beloved husband Russell who does, in fact, think Katie is ‘pretty without any makeup on’.
The raunchy comedian and minster’s daughter sealed their unlikely union last October in a lavish private ceremony in India complete with two elephants to escort the happy couple down the aisle.
Shunning a traditional ceremony, the couple’s rep revealed to People Magazine that the romantic pair had a ‘very private and spiritual ceremony, attended by the couple’s closest family and friends.’
When asked about starting a family in the near future, Katie stated that she can’t wait to start being a mother saying: ‘I don’t want to miss out on any experience. I want lots of children.’

Stepping into the limelight: Hayden has stepped back into the spotlight following her role as Amanda and has sparked fury with her comments about the convicted
Just a few months ago her attendance to a celebrity party wouldn't have attracted much attention, but now, it seems like she is the biggest star in town.
But as the publicity and outrage surrounding the controversial new Meredith Kercher murder movie mounts, Hayden Panettiere seems to be making the most of her time in the limelight.
The 21-year-old was the belle of the ball at a Superbowl pre-party in Dallas last night and looked stunning in a navy velvet and lace dress.
The actress, who has sparked more fury over recent comments she has made about Amanda Knox, was all smiles as she posed for pictures will fellow guests- showing her star is clearly in high-demand.
Showing off a sleek short bobbed hair-style the Heroes star was looking tanned and content as she was joined by guest including Joe Jonas, Randy Jackson and Adrian Grenier at the bash.
But while she was all smiles at the pre-football party, her recent comments about Amanda Knox have sparked further fury and outrage ahead of the movie showing.
Snap happy: Hayden posed with guests at the party including Entourage star Adrian Grenier
Hayden has said she isn’t sure whether the American teenager is guilty or not and said that she is ‘vulnerable’ and ‘spirited’.
The actress told The Sun: ‘My job was to play a girl who, regardless of what happened, was innocent in who she was.’
‘I believe in the person she deep down was and I think no matter, regardless of innocent or guilty, I believe she was a…she has a spirit.
Famous faces: Hayden posed with Randy Jackson and Joe Jonas smiling for the cameras despite the growing controversy over her new film
‘You know she’s a real person. She was a young girl with dreams and aspirations and she wanted to go to Italy to broaden her horizons and have experiences and meet new people.’
‘And I don’t think that guilty or innocent takes away from that.’
She added: ‘This is such a vulnerable story, and specifically, Amanda was so needy.’
In graphic scenes that have proved distressing for the family and friends of the student, Amanda Fernando Stevens, who plays Miss Kercher, is seen pinned to the floor by the three people convicted of her murder.
Stylish and outspoken: Hayden wrapped up in a grey Burberyy coat as she left the party. The actress has said she thinks Amanda Knox is 'vulnerable' and 'spirited'
Miss Kercher's father John said the images in the U.S. film are 'absolutely horrific' and has slammed the film.
He said: 'It's so awful what these film people have done. Your imagination runs riot as it is about what happened but to actually see it like this is very different and very distressing.’
'I'm also surprised they went that far in the film. I was told the original brief and synopsis of the film was to take it up to the point of the killing but not actually show the killing itself.’
Centre of attention: As Hayden arrived into Dallas airport she seemed overwhelmed by the number of fans who wanted to meet her
Fan following: A number of admirers followed her out of the airport as she arrived ahead of the Super Bowl game on Sunday
The families of Amanda and Raffaele Sollecito are trying to prevent the film from being aired until after their appeal.
The film sees Heroes actress Hayden Panettiere play American exchange student Amanda Knox, who was convicted of murder three years ago.
The film, which broadcasts on the Lifetime channel in the U.S. on February 21, comes as Knox, 23, appeared in court last month to start her appeal.
The hearing was delayed to give an independent forensic team time to re-analyse disputed DNA traces found on a knife and on the clasp of Miss Kercher's bra.
The trailer poses the question whether Amanda is 'kind and gentle' or 'evil', claiming 'there are two sides to every story'.
In the scene depicting her murder, she is set upon by Knox, her then-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito and Rudy Hermann Guede.
Despite Knox's conviction and 26-year prison sentence, she has always protested her innocence, and this new film appears to raise the question of whether or not she did it.
The film features a recreation of Knox's trial and the progress of the appeal by her family and friends to prove what they believe is her innocence.
And after throwing herself into Amanda’s shoes Hayden has admitted she isn’t sure if she is guilty or not.
She told the paper: ‘We spent five weeks talking about it and reading about it and looking at new evidence, trying to form some sort of opinion about it.’
And it’s like she’s innocent. She’s guilty. She’s innocent. She’s guilty. She’s innocent.’
The actress has also revealed how she delighted she was to find out she would be given the chance to play the convicted American dubbed ‘Foxy Knoxy’ by press.
She said: ‘I was jumping like a jumping bean. I was screaming at the top of my lungs. I was so excited that this opportunity had come up.’
In preparation for the role Hayden watched hours and hours of footage of Knox in court.
The actress commented: ‘She really tried to be as stoic and as brave as she could against all odds and I commend her for it.’
Hayden also believes that Amanda Knox’s smiles in court were down to bad advice from her legal team.
She added: ‘They told her to go out there and not pretend to be anything that she wasn’t, but be her vivacious and happy self.’

I’m Gethin married! Engagement joy for Katherine Jenkins and her Blue Peter boyfriend

'Perfect match': Gethin Jones and Katherine Jenkins
Welsh opera star Katherine Jenkins is ‘over the moon’ after getting engaged to long-term TV presenter boyfriend Gethin Jones.
The couple, who met on the hit BBC show Strictly Come Dancing three years ago, will tie the knot next year.
Friends of the 30-year-old mezzo-soprano say she immediately accepted after Jones proposed last month.
Jones, 32, who is also Welsh, and was once voted Bachelor of the Year by Company magazine, got down on bended knee and popped the question.
Her ring – described by a source as ‘totally fabulous’ – came from Bond Street jeweller Goode and Son, which is by private appointment only.
Friends say Miss Jenkins and the former Blue Peter presenter are planning to marry in Wales next summer.
A source close to the couple told The Mail on Sunday: ‘Gethin proposed last month, it was a wonderful start to the year for both of them. Katherine is so happy and can’t wait to start planning her wedding which will be next year. They both have busy schedules and Katherine is touring a lot this year, but they will start planning soon.
‘Wales is an obvious choice for their wedding. It’s where they both come from and Katherine has always said that she would go home to be married. They are both very happy and in love and their family and friends are equally delighted for them. They are such a well-suited couple – a perfect match.’
'So happy': The couple have been dating since 2007 and plan to marry in the summer
The notoriously private pair have already decided that there will be no tacky wedding magazine deal on their big day.
Last summer they moved into a £4.7 million house in Richmond, South-West London, prompting rumours that they were thinking about getting wed.
Asked whether she wanted children in a recent interview, the singer said: ‘Oh definitely, one day. I can see myself married with children. I want to be a really good mum. Ultimately I would want to be able to combine both a family life and my singing career.’
The couple met in 2007 when Gethin was a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing and Katherine made a guest appearance on the show.
He has said of their relationship: ‘It’s good and if I wasn’t happy, you would know it.’
A spokesman for Ms Jenkins said last night: ‘Katherine and Gethin are engaged but there is no further comment.’

Heartbreak for Amanda Holden as she loses her unborn baby

Heartbreak: Amanda Holden, pictured in Birmingham last Monday, has lost her unborn baby
Amanda Holden is devastated after losing her unborn baby.
The Britain's Got Talent judge, 39, was seven months pregnant with a boy when she suffered problems this week.
The actress was rushed to hospital in West London on Tuesday when the baby stopped moving.
Despite attempts by doctors to save the baby, Holden's son was later stillborn.
Holden's spokesperson Alison Griffin said: 'They are utterly devastated. Amanda had been closely monitored throughout her pregnancy and it is not yet known what went wrong.
'Both Chris and Amanda would like to thank the midwives and staff at The Queen Mary Maternity unit at West Middlesex Hospital Isleworth for their tremendous support.'
The tragic news comes amidst Holden's judging duties for the fifth series of Britain's Got Talent.
Tragic: Amanda and her husband Chris Hughes were looking forward to expanding their family
Last Monday, she attended the last round of auditions in Birmingham with fellow judges David Hasselhoff and Michael McIntyre.
Holden and her husband Chris Hughes only announced her pregnancy just four weeks ago. She was due in March.
When she announced she was expecting her second child on January 2, she also revealed she had suffered a miscarriage last May.
Her miscarriage prompted her to wait so long until announcing her most recent pregnancy.
Sorrow: James Corden, whose fiancee Julia Carey is pregnant, sent his 'love and prayers' to Amanda
Support: Ex-Spice Girl Emma Bunton sent her prayers to Amanda and Chris
Paying their respects tonight included Holden's actress friend Lisa Faulkner, comedian James Corden, ex-Spice Girl Emma Bunton, TV presenters Lorraine Kelly and Davina McCall.
Doting mother: Holden with her five-year-old daughter Lexi last year
Bunton wrote on her Twitter page: 'Absolutely devastated for Amanda Holden and Chris. Thinking of them and sending our prayers at this very sad time.'
Gavin And Stacey star Corden said: 'Sending all my love and prayers to Amanda Holden and Chris.'
Kelly added: 'My sincere condolences to Amanda Holden and Chris - so sad they have lost their baby - my thoughts are with them and their families.'
McCall Tweeted: 'Just heard the news about Amanda Holden . So sorry. Thinking of you and Chris.'
In an interview with the News Of The World last month, Holden spoke about her miscarriage for the first time: 'It was without doubt the blackest period of my life.
'I have such a charmed and lovely life and I just never imagined I would miscarry a baby. Never. You never think it might happen to you.
'Something went wrong. I certainly wasn't expecting anything to but sometimes Mother Nature lets you down.
'I was an absolute mess. Poor Chris was too but he was amazing.'
Condolences: TV presenter Lorraine Kelly sent her love to the couple
Shock: TV presenter Davina McCall spoke of her sadness at hearing the tragic news
The couple are also parents to daughter Alexa, aka Lexi, who turned five last month.
The former Cutting It actress married music executive Hughes at Babington House in Somerset in December 2008 after a five year courtship.
The couple announced their engagement in December 2004, but delayed their wedding after Holden fell pregnant with Alexa, who was born in January 2006.
Holden's tragic news comes three months after pop star Lily Allen also lost her child when she was six months pregnant.
Two years ago, Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh tragically gave birth to her son Archie 18 weeks early and he died moments after birth.
Busy: Holden recently completed filming the initial live auditions for Britain's Got Talent with Michael McIntyre (left) and David Hasselhoff

Jennifer also told The Morning Mash Up on SiriusXM that she had bonded with her fellow judges, especially Aerosmith's Steve Tyler.
'We have a great time,' she said. 'When things come out of his mouth, I think half of the reaction is, I whip my head to the side and I'm like, "Did you just say that?"'
Shopping time: Even Jennifer looks excited to be heading to the toy shop
Jennifer took a break from Idol today as she and husband Marc Anthony took their children Max and Emme to the famous FAO Schwarz toy store in New York.
Jennifer, 41, wore a long cream cardigan and matching bobble hat, keeping comfy in a snug pair of Uggs.
The twins, who turn three this month, were carried into the store by assistants.
Excited Emme, who had a pink E on her striped hat, and her brother then walked around the store with their famous parents.
They examined the toys on offer in the stuffed animal department, with the help of their mother.

Look familiar? Cher Lloyd stepped out today with newly dyed bright red hair
When she sprang onto the scene at the X Factor auditions last year, Cheryl Cole immediately heralded her as a breath of fresh air.
But critics were quick to note that rather than having a unique style, teenager Cher Lloyd was fast becoming a mini-me Cheryl, with their similarities only increasing as the competition went on.
And now Cher has followed in her former mentor's footsteps once again, by dying her dark hair shocking red.
Fiery: Cher is a few months late on this trend - a celeb favourite last year
Yesterday the 17-year-old was spotted leaving rehearsals for the X Factor Tour sporting a newly dyed bouffant.
While Cheryl tried out a more subtle style when she debuted her red tresses in November, Miss Lloyd is not one to go for an understated look.
Her shocking red hue is closer in shade to Rihanna, who was the first to try out the fiery trend last year, before Cheryl followed suit.
Miss Lloyd is often spotted stepping out in clothes similar to her mentor's style, and even borrowed designer shoes and clothing from the Girls Aloud star to wear during the live shows last year.
The Worcestershire teen uploaded a picture of her new 'do to Twitter last night from inside rehearsals.
Still showing the tell-tale stain of the dye around her hairline, Cher posed in mock-shock as she showed off her new look for her 232,000 followers.
Cher added a black flower headpiece to her hair and had a typical full face of make-up as she left the studio.
Miss Lloyd wore a pair of black track pants, boots a print T-shirt and and a white hoodie jumper.
The outfit is clearly a favourite of the young singer, who was spotted in the same gear head-to-toe when she flew into Heathrow last week.

She added: '@MaryByrneMusic @RebeccaFMusic and myself are drinking cosmos just like the gals in SATC!!love u!!'
Cher would have plenty to catch up on with her fellow finalists after spending the past few weeks in Los Angeles recording her debut album.
Amazon is already taking pre-orders on the as yet untitled album, which will be released in August under X Factor supremo Simon Cowell's record label Syco.
Among the music producers working on Lloyd's album are producer Ronald 'Jukebox' Jackson - who created Willow Smith's hit Whip My Hair and has worked with John Legend and Janet Jackson - and Red One, who has worked the likes of Lady GaGa and Nicole Scherzinger.
Deja vu: The singer was wearing her favourite, outfit, which she wore to jet into Heathrow last week
She also worked with The Runners, who have helped produce tracks for Rihanna, Usher and Justin Bieber.
Cher spoke about working with the hip-hop producers in a recent YouTube video diary.
'We did two tracks and I'm very proud of them and I cannot wait for everybody to hear them,' she said.
'I literally live in the studio nowadays so it's really good to be able to make the tracks I want to make. I can't wait for the album to come out and for everyone to hear it.'
Mini-me: Cher, left, has made no secret of the fact she's inspired by the style of Cheryl Cole, right
For now, Cher is contracted to appear on the X Factor tour alongside her fellow finalists including winner Matt Cardle, One Direction, Katie Waissell, Mary Byrne, Rebecca Ferguson, Aiden Grimshaw, Wagner Fiuza-Carrilho and Paije Richardson.
She tweeted yesterday: 'Back from LA, really jet lagged. I’m in tour rehearsals havin a crackin time. This is the best part – rockin out with a live band!'
The X Factor tour kicks off February 19 at Birmingham's LG Arena, before ending in Cardiff's CIA on April 10.
