SANYA GOVERNMENT WELCOMES MISS WORLD
Dancing, singing and laughter filled the banqueting suite as the Miss World contestants enjoyed an evening of fine food and entertainment.
Shaolin monks showed their acrobatic skills and dance troupes from the local Li and Miao communities displayed their colourful costumes and exotic routines, before the contestants relished a mouth-watering buffet dinner.
“The monks were remarkable in the moves they were making,’ said Spain. “I almost couldn’t believe my eyes at times.” Northern Ireland added: “Those boys were so flexible and totally fearless. They made it look so easy.”
Mayor Li fronted dignitaries from Sanya Municipal Government at the dinner to officially welcome the contestants to the city. The Mayor told the contestants how the city values the Miss World contest returning to Sanya and commented on the impact it has already made on the area.
Romania expressed a view held by all contestants: “Yet again, we have received such a warm welcome. The team here in Sanya is so relaxed and kind. It makes me feel at home in paradise.”
After dinner, the girls took to their feet to dance to a live band singing songs familiar to them all. They then returned to the Crowne Plaza Sanya – the relaxed home of Miss World 2010 in China.
The perfect end to a perfect night.
